Heresy are proud to introduce this exclusive release for mysterious producer Dead Man’s Chest. This talented producer has had an already widely respected drum and bass career with releases on Good Looking Records, V Recordings, SGN Ltd, Creative Source and Integral amongst others.  He is noted for his modern, forward thinking style across many styles of D&B

With this Exclusive debut EP,  Dead Man brings four dancefloor killers of mid tempo electronica.

“Darkness at noon” is the title track from this EP and is simplicity itself. An easy mid tempo break and oldscchool house synths in one glorious dancefloor filling package.  Such a tune!

The sublime track “Baby” which has dark, rich undertones and sprawling, looped vocals on top of a thunderous bassline and strong, tribal breaks. “U Need it” brings a lighter, jazzier vibe with soulful overtones fused with a post-dubstep undercurrent, definitely one for the summer!  “In 2 Minds” is one for the old school 2 step garage heads, but it’s not old school garage…go figure!  Proper beats with a classic vocal sample, big bass and a party vibe!

Dead Man’s Chest is quoted as saying that he has chosen anonymity for this project to allow him to experiment with slower tempos freely and wishes to keep his identity a secret…

Artist Spotlight: Earl Grey

Earl Grey DJ

Earl Grey is 24 year old Mancunian multi-instrumentalist Jim Ehlinger. Picking up his first guitar at school at the age of 13 (the same school incidentally attended by indie bands Egyptian Hip Hop and Dutch Uncles) Jim went on to play in various bands with modest local exposure, before discovering the joys of music software at the age of 17. Initially inspired by the likes of Aphex Twin, Squarepusher and Venetian snares, it wasn’t until a drumfunk-epiphany after hearing Equinox’s seminal Acid Rain EP on Planet Mu that he started producing and releasing Jungle.

Earl GlassesIn more recent years, Jim’s ear for fine-tuned low-ends and razor-sharp choppage has matured, experimenting with the 140bpm canvas to paint his meticulous sonic-landscapes. With his own Hyperchamber camp recently launching into the digital foray with his acclaimed ‘Moment of Clarity’ EP, exciting collaborations in the pipeline with like-minded producer Aroma-Nice and a recent mix for the legendary home of Manchester’s underground-electronic scene Eastern Bloc records under his belt, we are very pleased and excited to have him on-board.
